Illustrator does not use this method to load or activate fonts. Not to mention this only works for InDesign. So this is not a truly fail-safe method for activating fonts. Try the test I just sent - looking at Help/Font List for the font that you want, and then substituting it into one of the text() calls - and if that works, then edit LicencePlate.scad to add your font to the list on lines 28, 45, and 58. Seems pretty awesome, but without any explanation, many older (Postscript Type 1) font types won’t auto-activate from the Document Fonts folder. That program does use system fonts, but has a canned list of fonts that it will present in the customizer. The fonts loaded from that Document Fonts folder will appear at the top of the Type > Fonts list as “Document Fonts”. Or copy any font file (s) installed on your computer by clicking Start, C:, Windows, Fonts. Select the folder where the font is located.

As Niel noted, put them in the root /Library/Fonts/ folder if you want all users on that Mac to have access to it. Then right click in the Fonts folder in the Computer window and select Paste. To install the TrueType font in Windows: Click on Start, Select, Settings and click on Control Panel. There is no advantage whatsoever to putting third party fonts into the System folder. Right click the font file on your computer and select Copy. So the fonts load, whether or not you have the fonts installed locally on that machine. Double click on the name of the device then click Windows and Font. It will then prompt you for an insertion point and scale. The idea behind the new "Document Fonts" feature is that anyone can open the INDD file and (if all the fonts used are in the Document Fonts folder) they should see ID automatically load all the fonts for use only in that document. Repeat the SHAPE command, when it asks you for the shape name, enter 'arrow1'. The packaging process saves the INDD file, Links, Instructions and Document Fonts into the same parent folder (specified in Package process). Both CS5 and CS6 InDesign applications have implemented a new feature in attempt to "simplify" font usage and activation (in InDesign).
